The Ties And I Miss Him Every Day

Dad’s own Tie o’ the Day honors him. This photo was snapped when he married Mom in 1948, two months after they graduated from DHS. Dad was smitten with Mom through the entire 59 years of their marriage. And it showed. Even people outside our family noticed it. And at his funeral, they told us they had seen Dad’s eyes brighten whenever Mom entered a room. Dad’s example taught me to always openly express my affection to those I care about, so they can never doubt I love them. 🐝 🤗

Just Sayin’

Bow Tie o’ the Day has a BIGLY request. For the Memorial Day weekend, can we please, double-please, triple-please call a partisan ceasefire? Let’s remember that those who have served, or are serving, in the military haven’t come from only one political persuasion. People of all races, religions, genders, sexual preferences, economic circumstances, political affiliations, etc., have served their country. Even non-citizens have served and died, for a country they love and strive to be a part of. Let’s lay down politics, and remember ALL who gave all. 🇺🇸

Roses Match Everything

Clash of the Tie-tans! Tie o’ the Day nearly clashes with itself. It dazzles. In fact, this set o’ duds qualifies not just as clash fashion, but CRASH fashion. Behind me and my outfit o’ ostentation, my Mother’s Day roses are beauteous, calm, and traditional. Suzanne didn’t give me clashy flora, and that’s a-ok with me. There are times when we all need to look at things which allow our eyes to settle down and contemplate simplicity. I thrill on screwball wildness, but uncomplication is good too.

Sometimes The Neckwear Want To Be Serious

Bow Tie o’ the Day tells us to keep things in perspective. Too often, we think our heads/brains must be tiny, because we make mistakes and bad decisions. This isn’t true. Our heads are exactly the right size. We’re just human, and that makes us fallible. We need to remember that fact, throw on a bow tie, and head out into the world to do better than we did yesterday. Easier said than done. But what choice do we have? Nobody wants to come to our pity party. 🎈

The Sounds Of Bow Tie Silence

Bow Tie o’ the Day isn’t speaking to me. I have no idea why, but I’m not gonna fret over it. We all get a bit non-talky sometimes. It might be because we’re angry, or because we know we’ll make matters worse if we speak. And sometimes we simply need to dwell in silence for a while. When I was a child, whenever Mom wasn’t talking to me and Dad, we knew she was in a snit. We just weren’t sure which one of us was in trouble. 😕

SIDEWAYS Was A Funny Film

Some days, even Bow Tie o’ the Day feels sorta sideways. We all do. We just can’t seem to face the day’s challenges straight-on. Oh, we’ll try, and we’ll muddle through in so-so form. We are all good pretenders and smilers when we need to be. Our minds will eventually focus. We’ll get ourselves back on track, following our various arrows in the right direction. Even when I’m at play in the fields of my bipolarity, I eventually find my footing and can fly right. So far. 🤞 ☘

And Just When You Think You’ve Seen It All

Bow Ties o’ the Day are modeled by pieces from our “when pigs fly” decor collection. I’ve been surprised by unexpected revelations every day of my lickety-split existence on this planet. Big amazements. Extravagant, elaborate questions. And tiny things like bracelets, and fluorescent shoelaces, and bacon. Terrible things can astonish and perplex us, too. When people do horrible things to one another, we sometimes declare a collective defeat. Fear not! Pigs will continue to fly in on their compassionate wings, to save us from ourselves. Who knew?! 🐷 🐖

Here’s Some Egghead Advice

Tie o’ the Day answers the age-old question of what to do with leftover hard-boiled Easter eggs. When life gives you hard-boiled eggs, make deviled eggs. I love a funny, punny tie. No matter how long we live, life is short. Make it fun whenever you can. I do it with my ties and clash fashion. Choose your entertainment weapon. The people around you will appreciate your effort. Your humor and joy will help them through dark days. And we all have those kinds of days. 😭 😂

Paisley Is, As Paisley Does

The only thing better than paisley– style-wise– is a paisley and wood combination, like this Bow Tie o’ the Day. Pizza cutter Cufflinks o’ the Day make this clashy get-up even more fab. If pizza’s on the menu– and it always is– no matter how crappy your day might be, it’s not a total loss if a pizza knocks on your door just in time for dinner. I sometimes make what I call UGLY PIZZA. I press the dough into whatever jagged shape it wants to be.

A Happy Rockefeller. And Ties! Glorious Ties!

I’m feeling rich, so Bow Tie o’ the Day sports a bling-y second bow tie and corner points. When I say I’m rich, I don’t mean in the wallet way. I mean “rich” in the blessings way.  A cozy house with big windows, an old jalopy of a truck, and my fancy ties. Among other things. And I have my Suzanne. I can’t begin to express how rich she makes my life– even though she says this hat makes my head look like it’s wearing a condom. 🙄
