This One’s Sorta Serious, But Sorta Not

ALERT!!! Morbid, but funny anecdote ahead. Bow Tie o’ the Day was present when I told Suzanne that if I die during surgery, I apologize that we just spent $2,000 on my hearing device I will have had for only a month. You know from these posts that I find a joke everywhere. Life is difficult, and funniness helps. I do take serious things seriously. There are times when things get so heavy you have to scream. And there are times when a joke can lighten a burdensome fear. 🙀 🤣

Something Bow Tie And I Talked About

Bow Tie o’ the Day and I debated whether or not to have my PANCREATICODUODENECTOMY. If I were alone, I’m pretty sure I’d skip the surgery, and just mosey on along until my mosey-er couldn’t mosey anymore. But I’m not alone. I profoundly affect Suzanne’s happiness meter. I’ve been clear with her that my surgery is for her, far more than it is for me. We would all die for our families. But do we LIVE for them– really, really LIVE for them, every day? We should. 🤠 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 👩‍👩‍👦 👨‍👨‍👧‍👦 👨‍👧‍👦 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧 👩‍👦 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧, etc.

Even The Ties Know. “What The World Needs Now….”

Bow Tie o’ the Day made the mistake of watching the news this morning. News should be re-named “Bad News.” As an antidote to the funk the news caused Bow Tie, I suggested we sit and stare at this crafty book’s message. This book is Jane Austen’s SENSE AND SENSIBILITY, but we like its turned-down-page message more than the novel itself. Despite bad news, we know most people are good, do good, and strive to live good lives– by helping others, and by not adding to the chaos. 📖 ❣

A Smidgen Of Serenity. And Ties Of All Ilks.

Tie o’ the Day reminds me that life is about putting together puzzles. We’ve gotta figure out how to fit our roles, and we must solve tricky situations, some of which we created with our own choices. Sometimes we lose the puzzle pieces we most need. Or someone hides pieces to frustrate us. When we find a lost piece, we add it to the puzzle picture. 4,015 days (11 years) ago today, I stopped drinking. The next day, on the kitchen floor, I found a random puzzle piece. It was symbolic of my starting point toward clearer completion. 😌 😯 🔐

Sunday In The Park With Food

Bow Tie o’ the Day’s spending Sunday afternoon hangin’ with the in-laws. It’s a wee bit too chilly to cannonball into the pool, but it’s never too chilly to feast and catch up with family. A while back, Mom and I were sitting in the living room, not even chatting, and she said, “I want you to tell Suzanne’s parents how much I appreciate how good they’ve always been to you.” I told them. I was grateful to pass along Mom’s thanks. I was taught to appreciate appreciation. 👏

Bears and Bears and Bears! Oh, my!

Bow Tie o’ the Day is kinda hiding cuz it’s frightened of bears, which makes sense. When we go for our daily walks, we often trek past the Centerville Rec Complex, where there are a variety of good-looking wood animal sculptures. When you live with Hanky Panky pain for 20 years, you have to learn to LIVE with it. What’s the point of being alive, if you stay in bed? So I walk. I bike. I go places. I actively love the people I love. And I post photos o’ neckwear. 👔

The Lioness Sleeps Today

Bow Tie o’ the Day watches over Mom. The circle of life is undeniable. A newborn sleeps away its days. Likewise, at the end of a long life, I guess we will do the same. That’s what Mom is doing these days. She sleeps, dozes, and briefly rests her eyes throughout her days and nights. Often, she falls asleep during a tv show, and when she wakes up, I have to tell her how the show ended. I sometimes make up a happy ending, when it wasn’t happy at all. 📺

On A Busy Day, You Still Need To Wear A Tie

It’s easier to do housework and errands while wearing a bow tie, as opposed to a tie. But it was Tie o’ the Day’s turn to star in a post, no matter how long my to-do list is. There are two basic ways to keep a tie out of your way when you’re scurrying around, crossing off accomplishments. Either tuck the tie into the front of your shirt, between two buttons, OR toss it over your shoulder in the suave-est way possible. As always, look hip.

The Bow Ties Are Watching Lightning On Memorial Day

Double Bow Ties o’ the Day prove that I couldn’t decide which one to wear. I try to make adjustments whenever possible. Happiness only sticks around if you know how to make adjustments to your sails, based on the wind and on your chosen destination. You cannot control all the weather of your life, but you can survive the storms, droughts, earthquakes, etc. You can handle the aftermath. If you have family and friends, that helps. But you can do it yourself if need be. You’ve got this! 👍

The Silly Ties Give A Serious Salute

Bow Tie o’ the Day is a recent addition to my patriotic/USA ties. Pretty snazzy, eh? Its design is kinda folksy. Memorial Day is a kind of Thanksgiving. We honor not only the dead who served in the military, but our family and friends who have passed away. They mattered to us in personal ways we might or might not be able to convey to others. Some of them lived big, exciting lives, visible to all. Some of them lived quietly. All had impact. All lives matter.
