We are late posting cuz Bow Tie o’ the Day is in bigly trouble. The little scallywag has been in timeout for hours, cuz look who hauled off alone into a field—to take up a new, horrible, and expensive habit! Smoking? Really? We all need a vice or two, but this stinky vice is not gonna be adopted by any neckwear living under my roof. And why Bow Tie chose to smoke the largest cigarette in the world is beyond me. 🚬 🚬 😜
Bow Ties Need Pit Stops Too
Bow Tie o’ the Day enjoys our daily walkies. Occasionally, bow ties need to relieve themselves, however. Bow Tie has seen the mutts take care of the problem by utilizing fire hydrants, and Bow Tie obviously took note of this convenient strategy. Whatcha gonna do? At least Bow Tie is a quick learner and an independent spirit as well. 👟 👟
My Big Bro Out-does Himself
Ron guest-starred here a few weeks ago, rockin’ two pairs of glasses in a tie-like manner. Here he is again on the Tie O’ The Day tblog, sporting three happenin’ sets o’ eyewear. Ron is both suave and good-hearted. Mom got out of the Care Center after yesterday’s parade, and Ron took her to St. George, where she will dwell with him in a grand bachelorette pad which Ron and Marie have created for her in their home. It’s all gonna be ok. 🕶 👓 👓
How To Entertain Patriotic Ties
Tie O’ The Day presents an 11-Tie Salute on this 4th o’ July. We couldn’t organize a 21-Tie Salute cuz most of my patriotic ties have already moved to Centerville. These ties didn’t wanna go to the parade this morning. Instead, they nagged me to tell them about my Class o’ 1982, 35-year DHS reunion which Suzanne and I and a baby blue bow tie attended last night. So I schooled the ties about all the characters who showed up for the festivities. Fun-a-rama! Although I sluffed my entire Senior year, by graduating in ’81, I forever belong with my ’82 rabbit pals. 🎓 🐰
Mysterious Flora On Main Street
Patriotic Bow Tie and Suzanne and I were walking past the Deltassippi park, and we saw this fancy flower heart laid out on the sidewalk. Note the “S” in its middle. Suzanne thinks I created it before our walk, just for her to “accidentally” find. I have no clue who made it. But it made Suzanne so happy that I will take the credit for being so thoughtful. 🌼🌷 😉
Surprises Are Good!
Church Bow Tie o’ the Day is one of the most amazing bow ties I have ever met. IT IS CRAFTED OUT OF WOOD! How groovy is that? Jess and Harlie presented it to me yesterday! For some undecipherable reason, they and their family seem to kinda sorta like me. And, clearly, they know what I’m all about. Thanks, girls! 🎁
Yes, I Was Wearing A Dress
Bow Tie o’ the Day didn’t believe I had ever worn dresses—even waaaay back in the day. This photo shows Bow Tie and Pocket Square learning the truth. Yup, that’s me as 1st Attendant to Miss Liberty (which I call Miss Puberty)—37 years ago, in 1980. I have no idea how I still have the trophy (even though the top broke off) after moves to Virginia, then Maryland, then back to Utah. 👗 🎀
FYI Lisa Topham was Miss Liberty. Shelly Shields was 2nd Attendant.
Let’s Not Talk Politics. Ever.
Bow Tie o’ the Day is dressing for the 4th, as is the custom this week. Although they are a bit difficult to make out, trust me that Repub elephants and Dem donkeys cover Bow Tie. Bow Tie leans neither left nor right: It’s just a bow tie! Here at The Pub—and everywhere else I be—I don’t talk politics. If you don’t speak Politician, you will make and keep a busload of pals. 🐘 🦄 (I couldn’t find a donkey emoji, so the unicorn will have to suffice.)
I Bet You Wish You Were Me. Not!
Bow Tie o’ the Day #1 and I have worked up some fine clash fashion for ya. Bow Tie is flashing some red, white, and blue in honor of the upcoming 4th of July. Also in the picture is my scuffed up elbow, as proof that I got a new bike. Got some road rash on my test drive. Took an old lady, slow motion spill. Damn, I’m cool!🚵♀️
Notes You Wrote, But Don’t Remember Why You Did
Bow Tie o’ the Day #2 surfed right into a dragonfly! Groovy, eh? While emptying The Beach House, I’ve found drafts of poems I began writing years ago. I’ll soon edit them for public consumption. Anyhoo… I found these lines in one of the poem drafts: “Bow ties never loved anyone,/although they’ve been to many/weddings.” Can’t wait to polish the poem where those lines live. 🖋📝📖
