Just Sayin’ Farewell To Mom And St. George

Flip-flop Bow Tie o’ the Day isn’t in good spirits. We’re leaving Dixie. Ron and Marie will return today to resume being the bosses of Mom. Suzanne and I are cleaning the house, so there will be no evidence of the constant partying we’ve had going on with Mom since we arrived. The highlight of the loud, exciting chaos was when Mom ate an entire bag of gummies and then wondered why she felt yucky. Gummy bear hangover! Even Skitter doesn’t want to leave Mom’s stand-up routine. 🐻

Mom Is A Daredevil, In Earrings And A Duster

When Mom saw bikini Bow Tie o’ the Day, she nagged me to uncover Ron’s pool. I reminded her that she no longer has a swimsuit, so she clipped on her earrings and read this week’s CHRONICLE, for the thousandth time. Water makes Mom nervous. But she did own one sparkly swimsuit for decades. When our family rented the Delta pool for annual parties, Mom always rallied her courage, plugged her nose, and cruised down the slide– just once each party– to everyone’s delight. Best. Mom/Grandma. Ever. 👙 🏊‍♀️

Suzanne Adores Skitter

Tie o’ the Day is part of a dog-themed ensemble: all dogs, all clothes. Although there’s a theme, the look is still eye-catching and non-matchy. I’m a dog– and neckwear– missionary. If you aren’t a dog person, you’re missing out. They really are like shorter-than-us people. I’ve lived with a host of dogs, and I can attest to the fact that their personalities are distinct. Suzanne never wanted dogs, but I told her I’m a package deal. Now, she’s a fan. Maybe “resigned” is more accurate. 🐕

I Really Am Here, Mom

I’m partial to neckwear and mustaches. Bow Tie o’ the Day is splitting the difference and sittin’ right in the middle, creating a snazzerrific Beard o’ the Day for me. Hey, it’s a look. Please note Suzanne’s sewing machine in the background. Yup, she hauled it with us to St. George, where she has been piecing together a bee-themed quilt top. Mom is quite intrigued by Suzanne’s sewing activity, and she checks Suzanne’s handiwork fifty times per day. Heck, I don’t think Mom even knows I’m here.

The Ties Were Once Lost, But Now Are Found

You probably wonder what we do all day, while Mom mostly dozes, but needs someone with her, 24/7. Well, Bow Tie o’ the Day shows you that we sometimes learn Bible stories. The shark on my brother’s wall makes a fine whale and Bow Tie is being Jonah. To better understand my fellow human beings, I’ve attended church services of a multitude of denominations, and/or I’ve read their sacred books. It amazes me that the message of all religions can be distilled into this: “love one another.”

The Neckwear Loves A Good Myth

Bow Tie o’ the Day has its eyes peeled for Mom. She’s kind of elusive. We wanna snap some pics of her, but she moves through the house so quickly with her walker that she’s just a blur. We have a better chance of sighting Bigfoot for a photo. Maybe clear sightings of Big Helen will become so rare that she will become an icon worthy of speculative books and movies, debating her actual existence. We feel her love, so we’re convinced she’s real. But who knows?!

We Didn’t Hit Any Of The Deer We Saw By The Road

Bow Tie o’ the Day slept in, in St. George. We can do that because Mom gets up quite late in the morning. Yes, we got down here last night. LATE last night! Suzanne thought she would be responsible and go to work yesterday, so we couldn’t leave until rush hour. I don’t know why she thinks we need to pay bills. Oh, well. I guess her job is how I can sit on my butt at home and be a writer.  (Contest winner next post.)

On The Road Again, In A few Hours

With Bow Tie o’ the Day, we’re packing up Deja Vous (the Rendezvous), for our trek to hang with Big Helen. Hence, Cufflinks o’ the Day’s Buick-ness. Even Skitter is packed and ready. She understands the question, “Are you ready to go see Grandma?”, so I can’t say it until we are getting in the car to go. She nearly explodes with excitement when she hears it. And yes, we are still on the look-out for a companion for Skitter. I’m thinking of getting her a ferret.

We Cannot Get Enough Of Big Helen

We’re packing up for a trip to St. George, to spend time with Mom for a few days. You can see that I travel light. All I need is a pair of jeans, a t-shirt, and plenty o’ future Bow Ties o’ the Day. That’s it, as far as clothing is concerned. I carry a “few” extra bow ties, because I never know what I’ll be in the mood to wear. You just can’t plan for some things. Contest: How many bow ties are in my suitcase?

A Rite Of Spring

What a fine and dandy Spring day! Tie and Bow Tie o’ the Day dragged me outside to the playground. The slide was their fave. I wish merry-go-rounds still existed. I can picture the neckwear flying ’round in all their glory. They want to learn to ride bikes. There’s a chance Tie can learn. I’m afraid Bow Tie isn’t long enough to reach the pedals though. Popo taught me to ride. I’ve got a picture of it somewhere. I’m wearing shorts and cowboy boots. Style, forever!
