Even The Ties Know. “What The World Needs Now….”

Bow Tie o’ the Day made the mistake of watching the news this morning. News should be re-named “Bad News.” As an antidote to the funk the news caused Bow Tie, I suggested we sit and stare at this crafty book’s message. This book is Jane Austen’s SENSE AND SENSIBILITY, but we like its turned-down-page message more than the novel itself. Despite bad news, we know most people are good, do good, and strive to live good lives– by helping others, and by not adding to the chaos. 📖 ❣

Because I’m The Boss Of My Roses

I refuse to get rid of my Mother’s Day roses, even though they are dead dead dead. Diamond Bow Tie o’ the Day stands by me on this choice. Rarely do my tie pals not side with me. Don’t get me wrong: My ties have their own individual perspectives on the world’s goings-on. But their tiny tie minds are always open to debating, to discussing, and to learning how to understand and appreciate those ties that are different from themselves– like solid-color ties. Solid-color ties need love too. 🌹

A Smidgen Of Serenity. And Ties Of All Ilks.

Tie o’ the Day reminds me that life is about putting together puzzles. We’ve gotta figure out how to fit our roles, and we must solve tricky situations, some of which we created with our own choices. Sometimes we lose the puzzle pieces we most need. Or someone hides pieces to frustrate us. When we find a lost piece, we add it to the puzzle picture. 4,015 days (11 years) ago today, I stopped drinking. The next day, on the kitchen floor, I found a random puzzle piece. It was symbolic of my starting point toward clearer completion. 😌 😯 🔐

Bow Tie Rides A Bike To The Spelling Bee

PANCREATICODUODENECTOMY. That’s what my upcoming operation is officially called. Sounds like a type of dinosaur to me. Bike tire Bow Tie o’ the Day is learning to spell it. I guess the surgery is as big of a deal as its name is long. We still haven’t been able to get it scheduled. Apparently, it could happen in two weeks or in a couple of months. I’m impatient about this. And it’s on my mind constantly. Worst of all, you’ll get tons of posts about the entire, tedious process. 🚵‍♀️ 🤒

Let’s Get Our Calendars In Sync

Bow Tie o’ the Day is learning a fact: Scheduling surgery requires making sure the following are in order: First, Is Mom’s care covered for that day, and for the recovery time? Second, When can Suzanne be off work for a few weeks, for when I come home? Third, When will the ties be ready? Fourth, When’s the surgeon’s schedule open? All of these considerations must converge. So far, they have not. Maybe I can just schedule a magician to slice me in half and do the operation. 🎩 🐇

Sunday In The Park With Food

Bow Tie o’ the Day’s spending Sunday afternoon hangin’ with the in-laws. It’s a wee bit too chilly to cannonball into the pool, but it’s never too chilly to feast and catch up with family. A while back, Mom and I were sitting in the living room, not even chatting, and she said, “I want you to tell Suzanne’s parents how much I appreciate how good they’ve always been to you.” I told them. I was grateful to pass along Mom’s thanks. I was taught to appreciate appreciation. 👏

Relativity

Solid color Bow Tie o’ the Day is donned by my oldest sibling, Mercedes (Betty Rae). Many people I grew up with don’t know she exists in my family. Here’s proof that she does. She’s fifteen years older than me and has always, as an adult, dwelled in Pleasant View– where Mom’s visiting her for a few days, before coming back to us. Because of the age difference, I don’t even remember Mercedes living in our house. Here, she’s enjoying the Pacific, practicing to be a topless dancer. 😎

Dreams Of Magazine Covers And Runways

Skitter has a remarkable fashion sense. Her Tie o’ the Day is an excellent choice: a clever wood tie, with a Charlie Brown shirt chevrons design. Skitter and Tie wanna be on the cover of VOGUE. I often go into The Tie Room and find them striking extravagant poses. The two of them are already catwalk divas, even though they pose in obscurity. In fact, this is the first actual photo of them together. After their modeling careers, we will definitely see them both in the movies, for sure. 🎥 🎞 📽

Bears and Bears and Bears! Oh, my!

Bow Tie o’ the Day is kinda hiding cuz it’s frightened of bears, which makes sense. When we go for our daily walks, we often trek past the Centerville Rec Complex, where there are a variety of good-looking wood animal sculptures. When you live with Hanky Panky pain for 20 years, you have to learn to LIVE with it. What’s the point of being alive, if you stay in bed? So I walk. I bike. I go places. I actively love the people I love. And I post photos o’ neckwear. 👔

A Little Pricey, But Who The Heck Cares Sometimes?

Last night, Bow Tie o’ the Day made us spend our remaining Bee Pig Date Night bucks. Suzanne and I broke the rule, by spending more than the coin bank’s balance. We’ll follow that single rule of Bee Pig Date Night next time. We chowed down outside at STANZA, where I took my new fave photo of me and Suzanne. Our faces show exactly how we are: impish and dreamy. And Suzanne looks like she’s enamored with me and my slapstick vaudeville act. My luck is fantastic. 🍀
