Tie o’ the Day and I are feeling kinda blue. There’s no bigly reason, and it’ll pass. Well, I guess there is a tiny reason. After our walk last night, a stray black lab was loitering in front of our house. We’ve been seeking a companion for Skitter, and I thought the mutt might be the cosmic answer to our search. I walked the dog through the neighborhood to see if it would lead me to its home, hoping it wouldn’t. Alas! We found its person. Dang!
Roses Match Everything
Clash of the Tie-tans! Tie o’ the Day nearly clashes with itself. It dazzles. In fact, this set o’ duds qualifies not just as clash fashion, but CRASH fashion. Behind me and my outfit o’ ostentation, my Mother’s Day roses are beauteous, calm, and traditional. Suzanne didn’t give me clashy flora, and that’s a-ok with me. There are times when we all need to look at things which allow our eyes to settle down and contemplate simplicity. I thrill on screwball wildness, but uncomplication is good too.
Spreading The Bow Tie Gospel Is Easy
This Bow Tie o’ the Day exudes clash fashion possibilities. Adding a checked Shirt o’ the Day to Bow Tie is the clash-sprinkles on top. You’ll note I’ve been wearing my bigly, butterfly-style bow ties a lot recently. They tend to effortlessly bounce right out at spectators, so they receive more smiles than other kinds of my bow ties. In Farmington today, the bicycling LDS missionaries– waiting by me and Hombre at a red light– took time to praise Bow Tie. I told ’em it’s my Liahona. 🦋 🚲
Just Give Them What They Want. Why Not?
Yesterday’s Church Bow Tie o’ the Day is one of my bow ties which hogs the spotlight. It begged to be in a second post today. I like to keep the bow ties/ties content, so I spoil them as much as I spoil Skitter. Despite being spoiled beyond belief, none of my neckwear is bratty or snotty or naughty. But it’s certainly all knotty. My little friends often explore beyond the Tie Room, and I find them in the oddest places: Rearview mirror. Dog crate. TV remote. Chandelier. 😲
Bow Ties Like To Go To Church
Church Bow Tie o’ the Day took a mellow Sunday drive to my nephew, Bishop Travis’, ward in Provo. My Sister Who Wishes To Remain Nameless and I are joined here by Travis’s wife, Collette. These are two of the kindest, most big-hearted women I know. I spent so much time with my much older SWWTRN when I was young that some people thought she was my mother. And Collette? There aren’t words for how happy she makes Travis. And how happy she makes us. Collette’s a keeper. 🌺
I Was Surrounded
Necklace o’ the Day stands in for ties. That’s Grandma Anderson’s likeness, on her 90th Birthday cake– complete with the obscured glass lens over her missing eye. And there’s Mom, standing with Dad’s mom, Zola. These tough, fabulous women taught me tons about being a decent human being. I was driving Mom recently, listening to P!NK’s song, “WILD HEARTS CANT BE BROKEN.” She loved the lines, “There’s not enough rope to tie me down./There’s not enough tape to shut this mouth.” Sounds exactly like these ladies, eh? 💐🍓
My Brother Is Mother Of The Year
Bow Ties o’ the Day send praise and gratitude to mothers and caregivers of mothers. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing Mom, I’m sure you consider yourself touched by effervescence, humor, and charity. She’s good people. Since she decided to break her hip almost a year ago, she moved from Delta to St. George, where she lives with my brother and his wife– Ron and Marie. I celebrate them today. They are the exact caregivers Mom needs to have mothering her right now. Thanks, bro. 👑 👑 👑
And It Came To Pass
So I’m just goin’ along, havin’ a pj day… doing a chore here, a chore there. Doing the dishes, eating a bowl of ice cream (yes, it’s a chore😉), going through old photos, etc.. And lo and behold! Bow Tie o’ the Day shows up in this picture of teenage me, running around the DHS stage, doing my act on an assembly. Why the kneepads? I dunno. But they look groovy. Bow Tie’s more proof I was pre-ordained to collect neckwear. Wish I still had that vest. 😺
You Aren’t Seeing Double
No, that’s not me you’re seeing. Tie o’ the Day is worn by my look-alike niece, MiMi. So see, I’ve converted at least one person to the tie way of life, for at least one day. MiMi is my doppelgänger. I call her Wee Dopp. We really are the same person. If one of us were a Hollywood star in an action movie, the other one of us could be the stunt double. Wherever we are– separate or together– we are a circus, without even trying to be. 🤡 🤡
Sing It: It’s A Beautiful Day In The (Old) Neighborhood
Bow Tie o’ the Day and I send birthday joy to Katie Poulsen. It’s a chilly, long-sleeve day, so Cufflinks o’ the Day can present her with two slices o’ birthday cake. Katie was an across-the-street, Delta neighbor. We only had a couple of actual conversations, although we waved at each other daily for years. Good neighbors don’t have to be best friends. But I know her family would have helped mine if I ever needed something. I hope they felt the same about me. 🎂 🎈 Celebrate, Katie!
