We Gotta Be Who And What We Be

I’ve worn out Bow Tie o’ the Day and Skitter with my various eccentricities today. I tend to be a boisterous presence– with my tie collection; my opinions; my vibes about the future; and every joke that pops into my head. I have a bigly presence, but I don’t try to create one. You’re the judge of whether my circus is negative or positive, but I spent an entire decade of my life being quiet, which means I was basically somebody I’m not. I’m making up for that lost decade. 🗣

Mom Zonked Out

I wanted to show y’all a pic of Mom skinny-dipping at midnight last night, but she fell asleep early. We’ll work on persuading her to stay up long enough to do it under the cover of night tonight. Meanwhile, this Bow Tie o’ the Day photo appears to be from 50’s Day in high school. My fave thing about this pic is not Bow Tie o’ the Day, as one would expect. No, my fave thing is the pack of candy cigarettes rolled up in the sleeve of my t-shirt. 🚬

Mom And St. George Go Together

I have promised to teach Bow Tie o’ the Day the finer points of swimming, particularly the butterfly stroke. I think it’ll be easily doable since Bow Tie is butterfly-style. Ron and Marie are heading out-of-town to a grandson’s high school graduation, so we are down in Dixie, Mom-sitting for a few days. Yup, we Mom-sat her at our place last week, and we’re with her again– this time at her home pool. Our goal here is to get Mom to skinny-dip. And it wouldn’t surprise us if she really did. 🏊 😜

Suzanne Looks Good In Clown Polka Dots

I suggested Suzanne wear Bow Tie o’ the Day and Hat o’ the Day when getting her photo taken at work. She didn’t listen, so I fixed the pic for you viewers o’ the post. Last night, at the Best of Davis Awards ceremony, Suzanne received an engraved crystal bowl; a few bucks; and a Congressional Recognition certificate from Rep. Chris Stewart. Award recipients and their escorts were treated to a swell dinner, and a private showing of SOLO. And……free sodas and popcorn!!!!! G’job, Suzanne! 👏🏻 🥗 🍿 📽

Suzanne Tries To Fix What’s Not Working In Education

Bow Tie o’ the Day is going to a fancy bash tonight, where Suzanne will receive an award for her extraordinary work as an administrator for the Davis School District. She has so many responsibilities that all her job titles don’t fit on her new business cards. That is not hyperbole. That’s true. I seriously think she runs the entire DSD. I’m so proud of her. She was an award-winning teacher, and is now an award-winning administrator. The students are her first priority. She is their staunchest ally. 🏆 👩‍🎓

On A Busy Day, You Still Need To Wear A Tie

It’s easier to do housework and errands while wearing a bow tie, as opposed to a tie. But it was Tie o’ the Day’s turn to star in a post, no matter how long my to-do list is. There are two basic ways to keep a tie out of your way when you’re scurrying around, crossing off accomplishments. Either tuck the tie into the front of your shirt, between two buttons, OR toss it over your shoulder in the suave-est way possible. As always, look hip.

The Bow Ties Are Watching Lightning On Memorial Day

Double Bow Ties o’ the Day prove that I couldn’t decide which one to wear. I try to make adjustments whenever possible. Happiness only sticks around if you know how to make adjustments to your sails, based on the wind and on your chosen destination. You cannot control all the weather of your life, but you can survive the storms, droughts, earthquakes, etc. You can handle the aftermath. If you have family and friends, that helps. But you can do it yourself if need be. You’ve got this! 👍

The Silly Ties Give A Serious Salute

Bow Tie o’ the Day is a recent addition to my patriotic/USA ties. Pretty snazzy, eh? Its design is kinda folksy. Memorial Day is a kind of Thanksgiving. We honor not only the dead who served in the military, but our family and friends who have passed away. They mattered to us in personal ways we might or might not be able to convey to others. Some of them lived big, exciting lives, visible to all. Some of them lived quietly. All had impact. All lives matter.

The Wall O’ Bows

I don’t recall Dad ever wearing a bow tie. If he had, I’m sure it would’ve been something like bee Bow Tie o’ the Day. He would’ve starred in these posts for me like Mom does. He would’ve worn any neckwear I handed him, and he would’ve posed and hammed it up, just to make me happy. Dad never served in the military, but he loved his country. Dad didn’t tolerate bullying or cruelty. He was a flower child– all about peace, love, and freedom. 🇺🇸 And bees. 🐝

The Ties And I Miss Him Every Day

Dad’s own Tie o’ the Day honors him. This photo was snapped when he married Mom in 1948, two months after they graduated from DHS. Dad was smitten with Mom through the entire 59 years of their marriage. And it showed. Even people outside our family noticed it. And at his funeral, they told us they had seen Dad’s eyes brighten whenever Mom entered a room. Dad’s example taught me to always openly express my affection to those I care about, so they can never doubt I love them. 🐝 🤗
