So I was trying to read the newspaper, and the words blurred up at me. I asked Bow Tie o’ the Day to read the paper aloud. Unfortunately, Bow Tie reads at the picture book level. I don’t wanna be bothered with buying reading glasses, cuz I’ll perpetually lose them, so I always grab my magnifying glass. With the glass, reading went smoothly. Bow Tie and I started dinkin’ around with the magnifying glass though, even calling each other Sherlock. We had a good time solving no mysteries whatsoever. π
There’s Before, And Then There’s After
It’s been a tumultuous political year. And on today’s 16th anniversary of 9/11, we should remember how we came together that day, in both mourning and the determination to take care of one another, through whatever happens. Tie o’ the Day respectfully reminds us that it takes both blue and red to make the flag. And to make the United States of America. We were born lucky, to have each other. πΊπΈ
Strange Bed-tie-fellows
Love Thy Football Enemy
Bow Ties o’ the Day enjoy party snackin’ with fans o’ the opposing team. Bow Ties are always polite to anyone they run into. We smarty-pants humans should learn that lesson from the big-hearted bow ties. Since I’m hosting tonight’s football game bash, we’re eating primarily from the RED food group/packaging. Look closely and you will see a lone blue offering: a bubblegum-flavored Jones soda. Ties know how to share goodies, so goodwill abounds. Tonight we won’t see any bench-clearing brawls. I hope. β€οΈΒ πΒ π₯Β π

No Words Are Sufficient To Explain This Work O’ Art
Bow Tie o’ the Day and I found Momo’s (my g-ma) creation of The Garden Of Eden. Built with plastic things glued to styrofoam, this tableau fascinates. It’s gotta be half a century old. It’s too fragile to be dusted. Check out the fig leaves, the devil’s pitchfork, and the snake in the tree. I’ve forever been perplexed by why the dog is in the scene, but that mutt is my and Bow Tie’s favorite detail to marvel at.
Working Toward The Good Days
Bow Tie o’ the Day and I have days that we must push ourselves to survive. Some days just suck. You know that saying about every cloud having a silver lining? Life has taught me that it just isn’t true. Sometimes you travel under a cloud that is truly a completely cruddy cloud. But enduring the bad cloud pays off in personal strength and joy. If your cloud doesn’t have a silver lining, you can always wear a silver bow tie. I am. π
Making Faces Makes Ties Laugh
Suzanne snapped this pic at lunch. Bow Tie o’ the Day and I were happy to eat outside with her. She’s our boss, you know. She was kinda scared of the mushed-up face I made, as she photographed it. But, always, she eventually gets over my escapades. When she gets that “oh, well” look, Bow Tie and I relax and resume being ourselves around her again. But we aren’t dopes: we know Suzanne is secretly, joyously laughing at us all the time. π€‘
Just Dozin’ A Little
At the end of our drive north from St. George today, Bow Tie o’ the Day sang Mom a lullaby on our couch here in Centerville. So Mom sawed logs. I will always prize this completely adorable photo of Mom. Β She dozes a lot these days, and you can see she seems content and peaceful when she does. Bow Tie always vigilantly watches over Mom’s sleep, in order to shoo away any bad dreams that might dare to approach her noggin. π
Deep In The Heart Of Dixie
Bow Tie o’ the Day drove Suzanne and me and the mutts to St. George for the Labor Day weekend. We are just hangin’ with Mom at my bro’s, in the heavy heat. Mom’s now able to speed through Ron’s house pretty well. I had no idea a walker contraption could move so quickly, but with Mom’s hands in charge of it…whoosh! READY! GET SET! CHASE Β AFTER MOM!!!!! πββοΈ
